MY SISTER'S CAKE POPS

Ingredients:

  • BOX CAKE MIX

  • (crushed) LOLLIPOP, flavor of choice

  • FROSTING, FLAVOR OF CHOICE

  • CANDY MELTS (EASIER TO MELT VS choc/vanilla CHIPS)

  • cake pop wooden sticks

  • OPTIONAL: CHOCOLATE CHIPS / SPRINKLES

Directions:

  • Bake cake in a rectangular pan, following the box cooking directions.
  • Once cooked, allow the cake to cool for 20-30 minutes.
  • Once cooled, and in the same / separate pan, crumble the cake using a wooden spoon then add/stir in 2-3 tablespoons of frosting until the cake begins to stick together. Optional:  sprinkle in a few chocolate chips / sprinkles.
  • Form the sticky cake into mini balls / cake pops and assemble within a new pan.
  • Allow the mini cake pops to cool in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • Heat (over oven/in microwave for up to 2 mins) and stir the candy melts until they turn into a fluid consistency. 
  • Cake pop assembly: dip one wooden stick into the candy melt, then into a cake pop, and roll the cake pop into the candy melt until it is fully coated on all sides. Repeat.
  • Once all pops are coated, quickly sprinkle crushed lollipop on top and around the sides of each or some of the pops.
  • Place them into the refrigerator for 5 minutes, and serve!
